FORWARD
From lumber rafts on the Delaware River to the elegant resorts in the mountains, the pictures reflect the many talents, interests and enterprises of those who lived in Monroe County. Local citizens are featured as school children, merchants, athletes, factory workers and favorite relatives. Many area businesses, churches, scenes and buildings can still be recognized, even after a century of change.
The Pocono Record has been part of the Northeastern Pennsylvania community for more than 105 years. We're proud of our history, and we care about the future of this ever-changing area. Throughout the past 105 years, we have remained true, continuing to provide news of importance and interest to the community. We're dedicated to being the number one source for people and businesses of Monroe County.
The pictorial archives of the Monroe County Historical Association encompass a wide time span and show what life was like for the earlier settlers as well as the visitors who made this a prominent vacation area. MCHA has collected these archival reminders of the past since 1920 and continues to collect and preserve mementos of our past for future generations. We are delighted to be able to share our treasured resource with readers of this book.
